Is there something in your life that you’ve been asking God to bring about, change, deliver you from, or provide?
Throughout my life, I’ve certainly asked God to help me with things that would fall into each of those categories. But as I reflect back on past and current situations, I feel brought to wonder whether my faith has always been God-sized and far bigger in my mind than any challenge.
I know my God is all-powerful.
But I have to admit that there have been times when I’ve allowed things like my impatience, frustration, and fear to impact the size and resilience of my faith, leading me to ask the wrong questions.
Questions like…
- Will I ever be beyond this?
- Why do I always seem to take three steps forward and then two steps back?
- When will things change?
I know those questions are exactly where the enemy wants my thoughts to stew. Why? Because those kinds of questions can lead to my challenges becoming bigger in my mind than my God.
I want to unlock the BIG power of my BIG God in my life and not miss out on His amazing blessings that can be a part of every journey — even the long, tough, twisty ones.
I must do a much better job at daring to believe, think, and go boldly before the throne of God with big requests and big expectations. Will I get everything for which I ask? No. Because invariably there will be things I ask for that are outside of God’s perfect will for my life. So if my big requests are not what He wants for me, I don’t want to receive them. I want what God wants for me.
In the face of my present challenge, I am determined to raise my expectations in my God. I know that He is working for my good and I will choose to believe that there is nothing He cannot change.
Joyce Meyer referenced Isaiah 30:18. This verse really spoke to me with encouragement that God is waiting for me to expectantly look for His goodness in this area of my life.
Please understand, I’m not saying that God has not been mind-blowingly good to me, though I deserve nothing. He has!! But I feel challenged to make sure that in all things I am confidently dreaming as big as my BIG God.
If you’ve been hesitant to dream big and believe that God can and will do BIG things in an area of your life, I encourage you to lay any human-sized dreams at the foot of the cross. Exchange small, worldly thinking for a God-sized dream for your life. God is waiting to be gracious to you.
Be salty, my Friend!
“And therefore the Lord (earnestly) waits (expecting, looking, and longing) to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who (earnestly) wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him (for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship)!
