At this time of the year, it’s easy to get wrapped up in the busyness of trying to get as much done as you possibly can before the year comes to a close.
When I realized how little time I have left in 2020 that’s immediately where my mind went. Then I heard a little question arise in me…
“Instead of adding even more to your overflowing list of to-do’s according to your plan, Shannon, are there things that God is calling you to let go of so He can lead you to a new season of growth according to HIS plan?”
As I let that sit for a while in my mind, I started thinking about how God designed the seasons. During the fall and winter old things pass away to make room for the new growth that happens in the spring and summer.
I believe the Holy Spirit was trying to show me how that same process must take place in my life.
In order to experience God’s perfect plan for my life, I must first let go of the old, the redundant, the irrelevant, and the fleshly things that are stifling my growth opportunities.
This revelation feels like the first part of an answer to prayer.
Lately, I have been asking God to give me the mind of a great steward and the heart of a passionate servant. I feel like He is showing me how I must partner with Him in order for this growth to occur.
I know that means actively and consistently making Him the priority in my life. And it means spending more time meeting Him where He speaks — in His Word and in prayer.
As I commit to spend more time with Him this week and scale back my to-do list for the quarter, I encourage you to ask Him to reveal any obstacles to the growth He has planned for you too.
Be salty, my Friend!
“Therefore, if any person is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!”
